Customer Reviews

Broke after 3 weeks
It's a fun product, but the quality is questionable. One of the cymbals stopped working after 3 weeks, which is completely unacceptable. Madcatz offered to fix the cymbal, but only after I ship the product to them. Unless you want to take a chance, stay away from these.

Triple Cymbal Pack Rocks!
Since getting the Cymbals, I have enjoyed playing the drums in the game much more. I have not had any of the problems listed in the reviews and I have even let my 2, 4, and 6 year old bang on them with all their might.

The cymbals add a bit more of a challenge to playing the game even on easy mode as you will need to determine when to hit the pads and when to hit the cymbals. Once this is figured out (and I haven't completely figured it out on every song), you will enjoy a true professional feel while playing the game on any of the levels (IMHO of course).

All and all the Triple Cymbal Expansion Kit is an excellent add-on which can be enjoyed on any of the levels by all who play.

Excellent buy for Rock Band fans
At first I wasn't going to buy this set when I saw the name "Mad Catz". Any other Mad Catz product I've ever owned was worthless and broke within 2-3 months.

However, being the Rock Band fan I am, and the sale Amazon had at the time ($30 with free shipping) I couldn't pass this opportunity up.

First impression is that this is cheap. Plastic clamps, plastic screw caps. The cymbals are at least good quality with a similar rubber-like coating to what the RB2 drum set pads have.

To be honest, if this set was $50 or higher, don't bother, for the quality you get it's not worth the price. But for the price I got for this set, it's well worth it cheapness aside. Having cymbals adds a little extra complexity to drumming and it felt like I had to re-learn how to drum again.

There are one or two problems however other than the cheap plastic.
1) the clamps sit below an o-ring, after a while the clamp will slide off and land on the floor.
2) the caps that go on top of the cymbals un-screw after a while and the cymbals will become loose.
3) don't buy this if you don't have a room large enough. If you have friends/family that play behind the drummer, the cymbals will make it difficult to see the TV.

I find myself checking the cymbals to make sure it's not sliding off and the caps are tight after every 2-3 songs and I've haven't had any problems.

Overall: Under $50 and you're all about Rock Band drums, you owe it to yourself to buy this. Over $50 or you're just a casual Rock Band gamer, save your cash.
